“Hey all!! I’m Citlali Ibarra / Estrexxa and I’m a visual artist & DJ from Los Angeles! Growing up, my parents being visual and performing artists definitely had an impact on the way that I perceive the world as well as what I believed I could contribute to it. My parents most of all embraced cultural indigenous/chicano artworks (while implementing the catholic religion) that ultimately invoked my art being an amalgamation of my spiritual and catholic identity (and my cessation from the religion).

I’ve experimented with painting, drawing, sculpting, photography, collage, filmmaking, and of course now, DJing :p. I used to rely on my dreams to inspire my visual artworks, but when approaching video-making, music is what brings about the “pictures” or “vision” that I get… When taking the bus home from high school I’d often listen to music and imagine how I would creatively direct a music video and the settings for each moment :) now when approaching DJing, it’s less about what I “see” and more about the emotions that I associate with each song independently and how rewarding it feels to bring them together.. Which eventually leads to a really exciting experience for me lol
